It is not with the lyre of someone in love that I go seducing people. The rattle of the leper is what sings in my hands. Jane Kenyon

ANOTHER KIND OF MAGICIAN
ANOTHER KIND OF MAGICIAN
"Yet Long ago, there was another kind of magician.
His was not the magic of illusion, jugglery or
smooth sleight-of-hand.
His arts were real and transformed reality.
His counter-sign was the spoken word, unravelled
from long study of ancient runes."
Aaron Lee
"Writing a poem is like pulling something out
of a hat, but with a difference - you may think
yourself the magician but not even you know
what you're going to get."
Lee Tzu Pheng
In the beginning darkness was on the face
of the deep. Then God said, "Let there
be poetry!" and there was poetry, making
light from darkness, shaping forms
from the void, creating the big bang
from the one hand clapping.
On the first day........
BEGINNING
"In that it eludes definition, poetry is a mystery. That it is
so, comes from its having a common origin and source with dreams.
It is of the nature of dreams, constituted of a language of
symbols or signs and like dreams, is autonomous in that its
appearance is not subject to the will."
Wong Phui Nam
I know where you slumber, in clouds
reached by a Jacob's ladder.
I know where you awake, in ravine
darkness, the light of the mountain peak
only a retina away. I know where you
hide, a pterodactyl between the limestones
of my mind, the dry twigs of your skeleton
waiting to kindle a phoenix to life.
I know how you begin, you are
the pages of a book before the falling
of a tree. You are the words incarnated
on leaf before the thoughts puckered
the brow. You are the dream
of a dream!

I begin a series on the "making" of a poem. All poets should read Ern Malley's poems, it was the hoax where the perpetrators became the victims! The Muse is more real than we think and she has a life (mind, poem) of her own, "I dont write the poem, the poem writes me!". And If you have not read about Ern Malley, there may be something missing from your poetry.
I hope this will trigger off some debate about poetry....Joy to you visitors and blessings too. This is for you , Jay!!!
Dear Kianseng
Once more tha wait was worth it!
The gentle, rich thought moved me to tears... as I can only express my deepest feelings in poetry - as only at its will gushes out of me...
Each and every quote is "magic" in itself.
This watercolour is (so far) my veryfavorite. I have loved them all, but this one... there is something talking to me directly.
(I will be working on "rice paper" very possibly on Sunday as I like to commemorate a particular event related to my heritage.)
Love and joy to you, Sylvia and all yours
Angel, I cannot wait to see your rice paper paintings, I am sure they will be as good as your earth series, it will be good to do a flower series, this is especially true for rice paper, and remember just splash, dont plan too metuculously, and bright dolours too! Happy Creating.....
I really enjoyes this one --- very powerful!
Dr. Ng, this work is outstanding! The quotes only add to the work, building like stepping stones to this wonderful poem! And the art work, as always, is breathtaking. Your talent never ceases to amaze.
This is priceless: "In the beginning darkness was on the face
of the deep. Then God said, "Let there
be poetry!" and there was poetry, making
light from darkness, shaping forms
from the void, creating the big bang
from the one hand clapping."
Such magnificent verses! I really should go back to writing poetry. c",)
Enjoying your blog. Keep at it!
oh, when i opened your site, i just couldn't take my eyes off the painting. it's my favourite of yours so far.
and the words... breathtaking!

Cannot add much more to what everyone else has said....
except this is just so very beautiful!
Just amazing!
Thank you!
Love the way u put word incarnated
Love your artwork!
Thx for the poet recommendation.
Coming here to bask in the beauty of your words and your art is like returning time and again to drink of an elixir of Light and Love and Joy. You have moved me again to inspiration to get back to my painting. This is something so stunningly lovely!
Joyful blessings to you of Love and Peace.
Hello there - yes, flowers (!!!) are most definitely on the program.
First I would like to a couple of works commemorating the 1956 Hungarian Revolution ... A question of heritage and childhood memories that recently became stirred up.
I can hardly wait to get to the rice paper.
As to the “collage” I am afraid none of my photo programs appear to offer that feature – or I cannot locate it. He-He
I'll keep in mind that splashing is better tha planning - very close to my style :)
Love and joy to you, Sylvi and all
With the combination of artwork, commentary, and expression of your muse, you have captured the essence of the art. Very powerful!!
beautiful
Hi Kianseng!

I really agree with the above, and it's the same with painting/illustrating....poems are to me, paintings done with words :)
This gives forth some power! "A different kind of magic", eh? :-)
Thanks a lot for the visit to my blog and your comments there... See you again!
Hi Constance, those who write poetry or draw or paint know that sometimes the end point is not what we initially visualised it to be, the muse writes, I am only the scribe, the muse dictates, I am only the brush, but this is the delight of all forms of art, to know that the end result is not what we on our own could produce! I will be posting about the Muse soon!!!!!Thanks everybody, bless you and yours!!!
This is beautiful. I really like the idea that the poem exists before we write it and it is just waiting to be found.
Thanks for coming by Stripped and we would love for you to add a link. Hope you don't mind if we do the same!
Lovely lines. Fell in love with
"You are the words incarnated
on leaf before the thoughts puckered
the brow."
Stunning!
great images, plus. :)
Really beautiful words-a day dream
Just had to come back - again - to take a another good look at your precious picece of work!
best wishes
Just waiting for a new one to come and I did not check the writing of Ern Malley...Thanks for giving us the insights
Thank you so much for your comments. They're really helping me through this draught of mine.
"I know where you slumber, in clouds
reached by a Jacob's ladder."
Takes me to another place. Thanks for sharing :-)
Its autumn over here and the leaves are changing from green to red, orange, yellow, brown and every shade in between. Your artwork reminds me of that. This is my favorite time of the year. The trees are so beautiful.

I love that thought: a dream of a dream.
It's really cool how you incorporate other poetry on your blog: it's almost as you have created a collage of poetry and poets.

We need to read other poets so that we can write better poetry, I always find that a line or a thought I pick up in my reading can trigger off a train of thoughts that eventually lead to the writing of a poetry, reeading others motivates me to improve on my own art and craft of poetry and that is why I go to other blogs to literally savour and "eat poetry" and what I eat is what I become!
Hello Kianseng and Sylvia

There is the tapestry of dreams both in your fine poem and Artwok.
Thank you ...
It has been sold - nowhere near a million dollars! lol
I did not think anyone will match the reserve I put on it - and that was the first and only bid!
I have cried, and probably still will as I mail it. The funds should be arriving any minute now.
It IS going to a good (cultured) home, where it is going to be much appreciated. To an art lover and world traveler... a very nice person.
Blessing, for now
